A massive house party with a cast of 30 performers, including a narrative 15-minute walk-thru experience (rife with scares) and an exclusive premiere party with Octavia Spencer herself! The activation was met with rave reviews from attendees. JFI Productions partnered with Amazon Prime Video to create a massive brand experience inspired by the series LORE (based on the popular podcast). With LORE, JFI brought terrifying, ancient yet familiar folklore to life, giving audiences not just a glimpse into the stories themselves, but the opportunity to become part of each tale. Upon entering LORE, eight brave souls at a time were guided through an engaging, multi-sensory, hour-long experience featuring intimate encounters, terrifying moments, and strikingly detailed environments. During its 6-week run, LORE directly connected with nearly 5,000 audience members and garnered in excess of 275 million impressions across social, online, and traditional media.
AMERICAN HORROR STORY 1984 welcomed over 2,500 guests during its 4 day attraction at FX’s Fearless Forum at 2019’s San Diego Comic-Con (co-produced by Creative Riff and Just Fix It Productions ). Creatively directed by JFI, the AHS 1984 experience perfectly captured the mood, tone, and feel of a 1980s slasher film: campy and witty, equal parts horror and humor, heavy on atmosphere and detailed environments. Clocking in at twelve-minutes, the narrative placed groups of five into the 80s as first-day counselors at a summer camp who soon found themselves hunted by a killer stalking their every move in the woods. Even with jump scares and some truly tense moments, the AHS 1984 experience was equal parts screams and laughs.
In 2018, JFI Productions partnered with The Visionary Group to produce The SACRED LIES Escape Room Experience. JFI’s responsibilities included writing, directing, casting, costuming and on-site operating, achieving Facebook’s goal of brand-awareness for the streaming series in a big way. Over 2,700 people attended the 20 minute escape-room activation, and thousands more were introduced to the show through a street team of cult-community members who roamed Comic-Con performing staged water-rituals, exclaiming incantations, and handing out branded bags and series/event fliers. The activation was listed as one of “The Best Film and TV Activations Worth the Wait” by IndieWire.
MFG Creative hired JFI Productions to activate the premiere of Warner Brothers’ MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN. Actors in period-dress greeted and roamed the event, adding ambiance and extending the world of the film into the audience’s direct experience. Actors were positioned on the red carpet, appearing in press photos, as well as appearing as press, photographing guests with vintage paparazzi cameras as a special “take-away” from the night.
JFI partnered with Status PR and Nickelodeon to create a custom carnival for the premiere of Are You Afraid Of The Dark? TV series. A cast of over 20 actors populated a fantastical and spooky labyrinth of rooms and characters, designed to be light on scares but heavy on mood and amusement: a black-eyed stranger drew “monster” portraits of guests, a hooded figure told scary stories around a campfire, and a mischievous yet silent clown teased guests with twisted balloon animals. Guests could interact with creepy figures, take photos, and munch on carnival food and cotton candy. A truly unique press junket, designed to highlight the brand in an innovative way, while exciting the senses and creating last memories.
JFI has also curated personalized evenings for other private clients, including a Old-Hollywood-and-cultural icons themed birthday celebration in Malibu. Per our client’s request, guests dined with famous figures like Marilyn Monroe, Winston Churchill, and Bob Marley in a Midnight-in-Paris-esque restaurant & bar. Classic characters like Lucille Ball and Elizabeth Taylor mingled with private party-ers for a celebration of life, love, and art. Highlights included featured cabaret moments, interactive scenes and take-aways (art by Picasso and poems by William Wordsworth themselves), and a romantic toast to our client.
Overbrook Entertainment approached JFI Productions to create a personalized theatrical show for Willow Smith’s 19th Birthday: a special request of the Smith family (big fans of JFI’s work). Entitled SUITE 19, this 20-minute original walkthru experience was a story-laden, scarefilled, luxuriously-outfitted journey through the Paramour Estate in Los Feliz about the trials and tribulations (and fears) of growing up, told within the walls and rooms of an upscale haunted hotel. Featuring over 30 actors, the show spilled out into the party itself with a cast of characters playing hotel staff, as well as magicians, caricature artists, and palmreaders and more, entertaining almost 300 guests over the course of an evening.
JFI crafted a mind-altering labyrinth for CARTOON NETWORK’s annual Halloween event in 2019. With a cast of 15 actors in full costume and make-up, JFI’s party transported guests into a dark and mysterious world complete with spells and sinister characters – some alive and some from the spirit world. The night included exploratory moments in dark corners, featured performance numbers under dazzling lights, a roaming psychic/ medium, photo-booth installation, and costume contest.
